Error - "Student Identifier already in use" when adding or editing student info.

This error shows up when a student with the Student ID you're trying to add exists somewhere else in your School District in CutTime. The solution for this is to use the Student importer to add that student into your program. The importer will use the existing student record with that Student ID and create a new program membership for them in your program!


Error - Cell phone / Email "has already been taken" when editing contact information.

This error can show up for students or guardians when editing their contact information. What this means is that contact information exists in CutTime already in another identity, so it's not possible to add that same information to the contact being edited. That could be somewhere else in your program or it could be in another program in CutTime!

In order to "merge" those contacts together, complete the following steps:

  1. Copy the existing contact information somewhere close for later steps.
  2. Edit the existing contact information to a fake number or email - this will allow you to add that original information to the other contact.
  3. Remove that guardian or disconnect that contact from the student.
  4. Add a contact or add a guardian using the contact information that was being blocked. i.e. the contact info that was causing the "already in use" error.
  5. If needed, add the contact information you saved in step 1 to the contact/guardian that was brought up.

When the student or guardian clicks their magic link, they might now see multiple programs or students,
